A walkthrough with an illustrative example

How QuoteRecon reviews a quotation

Add your reference document and the supplier quotation. QuoteRecon prepares both, pairs the items and shows what changed, with the original source beside each finding.

Step 1

Start with both documents

Add the reference BOQ or schedule and the supplier quotation. QuoteRecon reads the text and spreadsheet data and prepares both documents for you to check before anything is compared.

Preparing documents does not use your weekly allowance.

Reference documentReference.pdfPDF with selectable text · 2 pages · 48 lines Ready
Supplier quotationQuotation.xlsxXLSX workbook · 1 sheet · 44 rows Ready

Supported: PDF with selectable text, XLSX, XLS and CSV. Scanned PDFs and photographs are not supported.

Step 2

See which items correspond

QuoteRecon pairs the items, then compares their recorded quantities, units, specifications and prices. It also identifies missing, extra and excluded items.

A pair with no differences means the compared values agree, not that the item is approved. When a pairing cannot be confirmed, it is marked Pairing review and kept separate until you decide.

Differences
Paired, with changed values
No differences
Paired, compared values agree
Missing
Only in your reference
Extra
Only in the supplier quotation
Pairing review
Possible pair, not yet confirmed
Excluded
Left out, for example a zero reference quantity

Step 3

Open a finding to check the source

Filter the findings or search for an item. Select one to see both original entries beside the recorded values. PDFs point to a page and line. Spreadsheets point to a sheet and row.

Try it: choose a finding in the example.

Step 4

Your review stays in Reports

Completed comparisons stay in Reports. Search previous comparisons or filter them by date, then reopen one to continue.

Export the report to Excel when you want to keep working with the data. Reopening and exporting never use another comparison.

Step 5, with PRO

Resolve and follow up

PRO adds tools to settle what the comparison finds. Every decision updates the saved report and its exports, and the original evidence stays in place.

  • Review uncertain pairings

Confirm a suggested pair, reject it, or choose the correct supplier item. Unconfirmed pairings stay visibly separate.

  • Compare revisions

Compare an original and a revised quotation from the same supplier. Changes always read from original to revised.

  • Explain with AI

Ask for a plain-language review of a report or a finding. Numbers, units and direction are checked against the report first. If a check fails, you see the source-backed facts instead.

  • Send supplier questions

Select findings to create a Clarification Pack. Edit the questions, add private notes, approve and export to Excel. If a finding changes, the question is flagged for review before export.

  • Know what is next

The Comparison Overview shows what still needs attention and links to the findings to review next.
